WHEREAS, the “Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act” (Title III) provides finding to Oregon; and
WHEREAS, Hood River County received Title III funding; and,
WHEREAS, the Hood River County Fire Chiefs Association has sponsored Title III requests over the past eight years to fund various projects; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Hood River submitted a funding request for updating the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (“the Plan”);
WHEREAS, the County Commissioners approved $32,687 for this project based on final funding that was made available to the County; and
WHEREAS, the Hood River Fire Department is tasked with updating the Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the Hood River Fire Department desires to hire a temporary employee to complete this work and the work will be funded 100% by the Title III funds; and
WHEREAS, ORS 294.338(2) allows the City to appropriate a specific purpose grant by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate $32,687 in Federal Grants, General Fund resources and $32,687 in Fire Personnel Services, General Fund requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Hood River City Council that:
The City Council approves to accept the Title III funding from the County to complete the update of the Plan and appropriate $32,687 in Federal Grants, General Fund resources and $32,687 in Fire Personnel Services, General Fund requirements.
Approved by the Hood River City Council the 25 day of March, 2013, to take effect immediately.
