Municipal Code 8.28.030 requires all alarm users to obtain an Alarm User Permit. This code also spells out additional responsibilities and restrictions applicable to both residential and business alarm users. Applications are available on our web site and at the Hood River Police Department located at 207 2nd Street. Applications may be mailed or hand delivered to the department’s business office. The permit fee per calendar year is $38.00. Please include it with your application.

Records/Reports

Certain police records and reports may, with some restrictions, be obtained in person or by written request. A request form, available on our web site and at the police department, must be completed with detailed and specific request information. Depending on the specific request, the result may not be immediately available. The standard fee for police records is $10, for reports $12.

There is a $15 per card and additional cards $5.00 each. Persons wishing to be fingerprinted should bring photo ID and print cards.

Radar Watch

Radar Watch is a program where local citizens may check out a hand-held speed measuring radar. The program is intended to assist with the identification of neighborhood violators, and to enable local citizens to help with community policing. Citizens who borrow the radar unit may record license plates, vehicle and driver descriptions, speed, location, date and time of violators. That information may be given to the Hood River Police Department who will then send a letter to the registered owner informing them of the violation. No enforcement action may be taken in this program. It is hoped that the letter will serve as a gentle reminder that neighborhoods are watching and expect people to obey traffic laws. The program may also serve as additional speed data to assist the police department in identifying neiborhoods that may need focused enforcement at certain times of the day or week. Contact the police department at 541-386-5256 to check out the radar unit.
