(A resolution authorizing the City of Hood River to apply for a Local Government Grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for development of the Hood River Waterfront Park and delegating authority to the City Manager to sign the application)
WHEREAS, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the Local Government Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hood River desires to participate in this grant program to the greatest extent possible as a means of providing needed park and recreation acquisitions, improvements and enhancements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hood River has identified land, equipment and infrastructure improvements at the Hood River Waterfront Park as a high priority need in the City of Hood River; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hood River proposes to develop and provide site improvements for a community park on a six-acre waterfront parcel including site preparation, utility installation, accessible restrooms, landscaping, beach preparation, open grassy field area, on-site parking, outdoor amphitheater, irrigation, and paved (ADA) walking paths, as well as picnic shelters and open picnic area, public art, youth play areas and structures, architectural feature reminiscent of a Native American fishing platform, and swimming platform; and
WHEREAS, the applicant hereby certifies that the matching share for this application is readily available at this time; and
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of Hood River be authorized to apply for a Local Government Grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for park improvements at The Hood River Waterfront Park as specified above and that the City Manager is authorized to sign the application.
Approved by the Hood River City Council the ______ day of ________________, 2007, to take effect immediately.
