Beginning Monday, August 19 through Friday, August 30, City public works crew will be resurfacing streets with a chip seal overlay, impacting local traffic and on-street parking. During the entire project period, vehicles may not be parked on Hazel Ave., E. 3rd and E. 4th streets, and Lover's Lane (red highlights on map) from 7 am to 5 pm Monday thru Friday.
From August 19-23 and August 29-30, parking will be restricted from 7 am to 5 pm Monday thru Friday on Sherman Ave. from E. 2nd to 6th streets (yellow highlight).
The City of Hood River understands the closure of Sherman Avenue between 2ND and 6TH streets will impact downtown employee parking. The closure takes place on weekdays (Mon.-Fri.) from August 19th – 30th, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During these weeks, downtown employees can ride Columbia Area Transit’s (CAT) Hood River City Bus for FREE to ease parking challenges. Riders can catch the CAT bus at formal stops or flag it down along the route. For CAT’s route and schedule, visit ridecatbus.org/hood-river/. For a PDF with more detail click here.
During localized work, crews will be flagging and directing traffic with wait times possibly occurring for durations of several minutes up to a half-hour. Some areas will be drivable until work crews begin tasks. There are many phases and coordination with other contractors and agencies making more specific schedules difficult to adhere to.
Please consider alternate routes and parking during this period. It’s recommended a visible form of contact info be left in vehicles if you must stop briefly in the project area during these hours. Vehicles left on marked streets between 7 am to 5 pm Monday thru Friday during specified dates may be towed at the owner’s expense.
We apologize for any inconvenience as we provide your roads with several more years of travel life as efficiently as possible.
