Children's Park Rebuild
After 25 years, the original Children's Park play structure has reached the end of its safe and useful life. With help from our community's children, the Children's Park steering committee and Play by Design created the design (below) for a new structure that will maintain the legacy of the original, with improved accessibility, additional play elements, and expanded play area.
We need your help to make this design a reality!
In order to achieve the full design envisioned by our community, $135,000 must be raised from the community to match the contributions from the City of Hood River and Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation. Total project cost is expected to be $435,000. The City and Parks & Rec have each committed $150,000. We have currently reached 75% of our community fundraising goal, with numerous opportunities for individuals, businesses, and other park lovers to support this effort. The City has contracted with Play by Design to lead this community design - build process. The community build is scheduled for June 4-10, 2018. We'll need skilled builders, unskilled builders, general helpers, and other specialized skills to help with the build. We’ll also need Crew Leaders (10) for the entire week for oversight and project execution.
