Children's Park Rebuild

After 25 years, the original Children's Park play structure has reached the end of its lifespan.  With help from our community's children, the Children's Park steering committee and Play by Design created the design (below) for a new structure that will maintain the legacy of the original, add new play elements, improve accessibility, and expand the play area.

We need your help to make this design a reality!  Learn about ways to help below.

The City has contracted with Play by Design to lead this community design and build process.  The community build is expected to occur June 4-10, 2018.  The steering committee consists of the City of Hood River, Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation, Rotary, The Next Door, Livable Hood River, and engaged community members.

Community fundraising

In order to achieve the full design envisioned by our community, about $100,000 will need to be raised from the community to match the contributions form the City of Hood River and Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation.  Total project cost is expected to be about $400,000.  Both the City and Parks & Rec have committed $150,000 respectively.  There are a variety of ways for individuals, businesses, and other park lovers to support this effort.  Learn about donation opportunities here.  Or check out the Children's Park GoFundMe.  Contact for more information.
